We will even supply you with a selection of doughnuts and croissants for these breakfast sessions!

It doesn't stop there once your 12 months has finished as we keep in regular contact with you and even send you a special treat on your birthday.

We asked our previous interns: What’s the best thing about being an intern at ASOS....

“You are part of a team and you are relied upon”

“Had a great year – learnt so much and couldn’t have asked for a better company to spend my internship with!”

“I never expected to feel so genuinely welcomed to a company and I feel like a part of ASOS and not just an intern”

MAA Intern

Merchandising Admin Assistant

Monday mornings in retail  are extremely important, we have to put a weekly pack together for the departments so we can analyse how we performed the previous week.

Every morning between 9-11 is time for ‘go live’ – this is where we set the new products live onto the website that have just hit down in the warehouse and have been shot ready.  Pulling off a delivery schedule is key as I can then see any new orders that have been raised and approved by the BA. As an MA, I’m responsible for the intake of stock so the delivery schedule is extremely important.

By working on a branded department, I have a large amount of brands to work with. A big part of the job is building relationships with brands and making sure deliveries are made correctly. We have a close relationship with the Supply Chain and Logistics team, who support us with getting stock into the warehouse and help us solve any problems or queries that arise with bookings.

Once every couple of weeks, we have a ‘Best & Worst’ presentation – we have to present to the rest of Menswear what our best and worst selling lines were - the BA will show the products and I’ll explain the figures and stock status of the products. It’s really interesting to see what other departments are getting up to. I work extremely closely with my BA and the job couldn’t be done without us working closely in sync.

We also focus on the importance of SEO (search engine optimisation) when creating and putting products live, to ensure that the brands we deal with rank highly with ASOS and Google when searched for by customers. This is something you can really get involved with as it’s an ongoing project for ASOS being a solely online company.

TAA Intern

Technical Admin Assistant

Each day at Asos is completely different but that is what I love about it! Whether I am helping develop beautiful product, organising customer fit days to find out what the word on the street is about the Asos fit or working with our supply base, there is a new and exciting challenge every day.

The Garment Tech team and Buyers work together to produce the loveliest garments possible, and I get to give my input too. While the Buyers give their opinion on the styling features, it is the Technicians job to make certain the garment fits the body.  Commenting on everything from the fabric quality, to component suitability and even the most simple of things like making sure the customer can get the garment on and off.

As a Technical Assistant, it is my responsibility to look closely at ‘poor quality’, ‘item faulty’ and ‘style doesn’t fit properly’.  Calling up samples from the warehouse to evaluate possible reasons why the customer may be dissatisfied is a great indication. It is my job to analyse and review the top eight returned styles for the last reporting month this enables the company to establish trends and patterns on problem items.

Customer Fit Day’s are essential to understand the market needs and what we can do better, these come with a lot of preparation. It is my job on the day to measure each customer upon arrival. Measuring is something with which you need to be extremely familiar and confident in doing as this done on a regular basis.

It is extremely important to be able to track and know exactly where our product is coming from, to guarantee our supply chain is ethically all above board. My job is to aid the admin side of this huge process, continually uploading factory audits and updating our database with suppliers.

Asos is fast pace, diverse but incredibly exhilarating. Personal organisation is a must and you have to be ready for anything that may come your way. All this combined with a great team of friendly people, creating new products every day, and continuous support from colleagues means I am in one very lucky position! What girl could ask for a better internship!?
A Daye in the Life - BAA

Buying Admin Assistant

Each morning, I get to the office with a coffee in my hand, ready to look at sales with my buyer and hand out visual sheets of our previous week’s sales to the team. Being a BAA, I assist the buyers by pulling out products for a ‘best and worst’ presentation every Monday morning.

As a BAA a large part of the role is liaising  with suppliers on any issues or deadlines due that week. It’s a key part of my job to build good relationships with suppliers, at the same time making sure styles are delivered on time and to the ASOS Standard.

Every week,  BAAs have department fit sessions, where the Buyer, AB, Garment Tech fit products or development from suppliers to ensure it has the best fit possible for our customer. This is a great time to speak up and give opinions on the way garments look and fit. Once a garment is approved and production samples arrive, I make an appointment with the Product Sample Receive team. This is where I hand over the products to be shot after at this point  I provide a style guide on how, as a team, we’d like the garment to look and feel.

I keep a close eye on websites, like Vogue, for any inspiration on development that I can suggest to my buyer, and on blogs to see if any of our styles have been worn. As a BAA it’s always good to keep an eye on your competitors and let your buyer know if there’s anything as a team we can do to get better sales!
