Working in Ecommerce at ASOS
E-commerce at ASOS is all about finding new ways to improve our customers shopping experience. We are split into four sections: Fashion Finder, Marketplace, User Experience and Analytics.
What do our customers really want from their shopping experience? This question keeps the User Experience team awake at night (well, busy in the day!). Our job is to create the most usable and engaging experience possible. We always keep the customer at the heart of any new web initiatives; our aim is to produce an online fashion experience like no other. You’ll drive concept development, wireframing, prototyping and user testing. In a nutshell, you’ll play a really important role in the development and progression of the ASOS user experience.
Web Analytics helps us to better understand where our users come from and what they do when they’re on the site. We want to know how they find us, the devices they use, how they interact with the site, and how successful we are at converting them into customers. So, when you spot any awesome new changes to the site, it’s because our team have used customer data to drive changes, improve usability and, ultimately, improve the whole experience.
Marketplace is just that, an online marketplace. It’s where our customers can buy and sell new, pre-owned and vintage fashion. The idea had been kicking around at ASOS for a while and finally launched in 2010. We wanted to offer people a place where they can sell their items in a true fashion environment. In this team, you’ll support the sellers on the site and also look for new ones to come on board. You’ll also edit the site’s content with sections such as blogs and the People’s Runway (a fab ‘real’ photography suite). Plus, you’ll also get to work with all the above departments to make sure the site is as hot as it can be.
Fashion Finder is a community platform showcasing the world’s best fashion from ASOS and selected retailers. Our editors highlight the top fashion picks, key trends, occasions, looks and outfits across the retailer product base. It’s a place for our gorgeous customers to showcase their own fashion and style by creating their outfits or uploading pictures of their looks. It’s a way for them to find inspiration (as well as providing it to others), keep up to date with trends and see some beautiful, and real, fashion.
